FLSI Training Resource Kit Receives International Acclaim

EMMITSBURG, Md. — The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is pleased to announce that its Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives (FLSI) Training Resource Kit has received several prestigious international awards from the film and communications industries. The FLSI Training Resource Kit, an important component of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s "Everyone Goes Home™" Program, received four 2007 Telly Awards and five 2007 Communicator Awards for its motivating and informative video presentations on firefighter safety.

The FLSI Training Resource Kit, aimed at reducing the number of preventable firefighter line-of-duty deaths and injuries in the United States, was recognized for four Telly Awards, in the following non-broadcast categories: Safety; Motivational, Copywriting, and Editing. The Telly Awards were founded in 1978 and are the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions.  In addition, the Telly Awards showcase the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments worldwide.  This world renowned competition receives over 13,000 entries from the U.S. and foreign countries.  Among the past recipients of the Telly Awards are CNN and the History Channel

In addition, the Resource Kit garnered five Communicator Awards, receiving the Award of Excellence for the following videos: "The Instructor" and "Are You on a Path to a Line-of-Duty Death?" and the Award of Distinction for "Line-of-Duty Death Prevention," "Fighting the Fire Before The Fire," and "Train the Way You Fight." The Communicator Award is an international awards competition that recognizes outstanding work in the communications field.  The entries are judged by industry professionals who seek companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. The Award of Excellence is presented to those entrants whose ability to communicate makes them the best in their field.  The Award of Distinction is awarded for projects that exceed industry standards in production or communication skills.

The Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives Training Resource Kit programs were written and  produced by Anderson Manning Media Group (www.andersonmanning.net), a full-service media company, in collaboration with its film and video production services partner, Cool Water Multimedia, LLC. The kit was shipped to more than 33,000 fire departments throughout the United States and is offered electronically through the United States Fire Administration at www.usfa.dhs.gov. Volume 2 of the FLSI Training Kit will be shipped to 33,000 U.S. fire departments shortly.

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, created by the United States Congress in 1992, is a nonprofit foundation that leads a nationwide effort to remember and honor America’s fallen firefighters and assist their families and coworkers. With the support of the fire and life safety organizations nationwide and generous contributions from the Dunkin’ Brands Community Foundation, the NFFF has launched a major initiative to reduce line-of-duty firefighter deaths (LODDs), consistent with goals of the United States Fire Administration.
