EDGEWATER, Fla. — More than 30 firetrucks and bulldozers kept a wind-driven wildfire from sweeping through an Edgewater neighborhood Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
Most neighborhood roads in the area were closed at 34th and 35th streets, the northern boundary of a blaze that charred about 100 acres of brush and forest at the edge of the Brevard community.
The fire was contained at 6 p.m.
There were no injuries, evacuations or damage to homes, and firefighters got critical help from rain.
"The cause of the fire is suspicious and is under investigation," said Tonya Gilardi of Port Orange Fire Rescue.
