HAMPTON, Conn. — Authorities say two firefighters from the small eastern Connecticut town of Scotland were injured when their fire engine hit a tree while responding to an emergency call.
The ladder truck was heading to a house fire in Hampton to help that town's firefighters when it ran off the shoulder of South Bigelow Road and a hit a tree around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
Two Scotland volunteer firefighters, 54-year-old driver Daniel Syme and 34-year-old Scott Cormier, were treated at Windham Hospital for minor hand and foot injuries.
