CANTON, Ohio — An 82-year-old Canton man died Wednesday when a city fire truck responding to a blaze crashed into his van.
At approximately 7:40 p.m., Dale Burlingame, of Frazer Avenue, was driving east on 18th Street and turned onto Cleveland Avenue N.W. into the path of a fire truck racing to the scene of a fire.
The Stark County Medical Examiner's Office said Burlingame was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Also injured in the crash was Burlingame's wife, Grace, 83, who was treated for minor injuries at Canton's Mercy Medical Center.
