Wildland Firefighter & Nick's Boots announce the winners of the 2006 Photo Contest
The results of the 2006 Wildland Firefighter Photo Contest are in! We received more than 100 entries from firefighters around the country and narrowed them down to eight — first, second and third place winners as well as five honorable mentions. For his first-place win, Ryan Myers of Jolon, Calif., will receive a pair of Nick’s Custom Boots (a $400 value). Congratulations to our winners, and thank you to everyone who submitted photos.
1st Place: Ryan Myers
On June 26, two Navy F/A-18C Hornets crashed during a routine training mission, igniting two brush fires that burned several hundred acres near Fort Hunter Liggett Army base in Monterey County, Calif. Myers, a member of the Monterey Hotshots, was one of the first to respond to the crash and resulting fires. |
2nd Place: Bob Bundy
This photo was taken on July 15 at the Thorne Divide Complex in Crook County, Wyo., near Devil's Tower. Bob Bundy, a member of the Colorado State Forest Service, was there on assignment with the Lyons (Colo.) Fire Protection District's Type 6 engine (pictured) and while supporting the San Juan Hotshots. |
3rd Place: Greg Spak
Greg Spak, a member of the Mt. Taylor Hotshots, based out of Grants, N.M., took this photo on the Ojo Feliz Fire outside Mora, N.M., on April 13. |
