Fireline: Hot Hot Springs

Mountain wildfire threatens historic district in Arkansas

AP PHOTO/THE SENTINEL-RECORD, RICHARD RASMUSSEN

A firefighter from the Hot Springs (Ark.) Fire Department hits flames with water on Jan. 4 on the south side of West Mountain in the Hot Springs National Park. Smoke from a 100-acre wildfire shrouded a mountain overlooking Hot Springs’ famed Bathhouse Row. Firefighters closed some streets as they worked to keep the fire from spreading into the city’s historic district.
