FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A firefighter-paramedic died July 9 after suffering a massive heart attack.

FirefighterCloseCalls.com reported that Frank Echevarria, 52, worked his last shift July 2. The next morning, he reported not feeling well and drove himself to the hospital.  En route to the hospital, he experienced a heart attack. He was resuscitated and taken to the ICU, where he spent six days before he died.

Echevarria worked for Cumberland County EMS and spent 30 years as both a firefighter and paramedic.


It is with the heaviest of hearts that this will be the last update on lil brother, Frank Echevarria. Frank passed away...

We love you Frank Echevarria. I'm so sorry we lost you. I wish I could have done more. I wish I could have known you better. Your family, EMS family and friends will always carry you with us.
