LODD: Mich. firefighter dies after responding to calls

MEMPHIS, Mich. — A firefighter died Sept. 23 after responding to two separate calls.

According to USFA, Memphis Fire Department 39-year veteran firefighter Robert Phillips II was found unresponsive by his wife at their home after responding to two emergency incidents, the last one being a vehicle crash.

Phillips’ wife called 911 and MFD members responded to their home, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of his death has not been released.

According to his obituary, a fireman’s pass and review will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Kammeraad-Merchant Funeral Home, and a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.
