CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – A judge dismissed arson charges against a Central Islip Fire Department volunteer firefighter.
News 12 reports that the charges were dropped due to conflicting testimony from prosecution witnesses. Central Islip Firefighter Stephen Hernandez was accused of setting fires to stand out in his department by quickly responding to the incident.
Central Islip Fire Department Capt. Weldon Drayton, is also accused of setting a fire to a vacant home, but charges are expected to be dismissed in six months.
