The fire was on three floors and spread to other buildings in the Brooklyn neighborhood

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A ball of fire exploded from a Brooklyn home early Wednesday, the New York Post reported.

Firefighters were not at the scene when the explosion happened but responded within three minutes. They found heavy fire in the cellar and first and second floors. The fire had already spread to two buildings attached to the home. A separate building in the neighborhood also caught fire.

Six people were injured.

“There was an explosion out the front,” FDNY Deputy Chief Patrick Sheridan told reporters. “The first floor collapsed into the cellar, so we were unable to get searches of the cellar and the first floor of the original fire building.”

The incident is under investigation.
