Calif. firefighters respond to car crash near fire station

Crews ran out to find a mangled car with an injured driver trapped inside

SARATOGA, Calif. — Firefighters are always on call, but over the weekend they had an unexpected call outside their own fire station. 

Crews were inside their station when they heard a crash early Saturday morning; not far from their station, a 25-year-old man had crashed his vehicle. 

Firefighters extricated the man and transported him to the hospital; he suffered life-threatening injuries, reported NBC Bay Area

The crash remains under investigation.
