PATERSON, N.J. — Hundreds of firefighters gathered at a firehouse to honor colleagues who died in the line of duty.
NorthJersey.com reported that the annual memorial for the city’s fallen firefighters recognized 28 members who died in the line of duty.
“We will never forget these brave people,” Fire Chief Michael Postorino said.
The most recent firefighter added to the memorial was 20-year veteran Scott Rogow, who died in 2012 due to injuries related to a 2009 fire.
“He was just 49 years old,” said firefighter Gerald Behnke, president of the Paterson Firefighters Association.
Rogow’s children read the “Paterson’s Firefighters Prayer,” and red roses were handed out to family members of fallen firefighters.
