W.Va. fire chief dies in vehicle crash

Officials believe Chief Tim Blake suffered a heart attack and died before the vehicle he was driving crashed

NICHOLAS COUNTY, W.Va. — A volunteer fire chief died Wednesday after suffering a medical issue and crashing a vehicle.

WSAZ reported that Craigsville-Beaver-Cottle Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tim Blake died from what officials believed was a heart attack before crashing his vehicle.

Blake, who was the fire chief for 23 years and a member of the department since 1987, was also the president of the Nicholas County Fire Association.

"We extend our condolences to the Blakes and all of the fire family. #1301, you will be sorely missed,” the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department posted on their Facebook page.
