St. Louis Fire Academy graduates first female in 9 years

The last female fire recruit graduated from the program in 2008

ST. LOUIS, Mo.  — For the first time in nearly 10 years, a woman has graduated from the St. Louis Fire Academy.

Elizabeth McCormick completed the 16-week program nine years after the last female fire recruit, Cherri Merchant, who graduated in 2008, reported KSDK.

The St. Louis Fire Academy is the second oldest academy in the United States, reported FOX2
