Ariz. boy’s ‘Happy Father’s Day’ wish to firefighter dad goes viral
The boy’s father has been battling the Dog Head fire in New Mexico 16 hours per day
MESA, Ariz. — A 3-year-old Arizona boy, like many other children nationwide, wished his father a happy Father’s Day. Except his dad was 440 miles away battling a massive fire.
Case Hughes’s father, Brandon Hughes is a task force leader from the Mesa Ranger District and has been battle the Dog Head Fire since last week along with 953 other fire personnel, reported KOB4.
Case’s mother, Katie Hall Hughes, took to Facebook to share the photo of her son holding a sign that read, “My dad is a wildland firefighter. He is currently fighting the Dog head Fire in New Mexico. Please help me wish him a Happy Father’s Day!”
Hall Hughes said communication with Brandon has been limited due to spotty phone coverage and the 16-hour days battling the blaze.
“This would mean the world to him,” Hall Hughes said. “Brandon is one of the hardest working guys I know.”
