SAN ANTONIO — A firefighter was welcomed home from the hospital after spending two and a half months fighting for his life.

KENS5 reported that firefighter Brad Phipps was released after spending 75 days in the hospital following the Ingram Square Shopping Center fire that killed firefighter Scott Deem.

The San Antonio Fire Department shared a video of Phipps coming home and thanking the people who greeted him.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the people of San Antonio for their amazing generosity and continued prayers,” Phipps said in a statement. “I am very happy to be able to go home to my family to continue my recovery. The love and support shown toward myself, Tina, and our boys by my fire family with the SAFD and District 2 Fire & Rescue has been overwhelming. They truly are family in every sense of the word.”
