Video: Firefighter suspended after fighting at fire scene

A veteran firefighter claims a colleague nearly hit him with a fire truck while on scene

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. — A veteran firefighter was suspended after fighting at a fire scene earlier this month.

Riverhead News-Review reported that the fight, which was caught on video, took place on July 3. Tom Brady, a 40-year veteran of the Jamesport Fire Department, claims he wasn't the attacker in the fight. His suspension was lifted Tuesday during a board of commissioners meeting.

In the video, Brady approaches another firefighter and places a hand on his shoulder and turns him around to speak to him. The firefighter starts shoving Brady, who becomes pinned against a fire truck. Other firefighters intervened to break up the fight.

Brady filed a police report, but no charges were filed. Brady claims he confronted the firefighter because he nearly hit him with the fire truck. No one else was suspended after the incident.
