Medic pulls big-rig crash victim from burning wreck

An off-duty paramedic and two other witnesses pulled the injured driver from the truck, before he later died at the hospital

VALLEJO, Calif. — A Calif. big-rig driver was killed in fiery highway crash Thursday, authorities said.

An Ace Hardware big-rig and a pickup truck collided early Thursday morning, causing the big-rig to fall from an overpass and land below in a grassy area and catch fire, according to ABC 7.

An off-duty paramedic and two witnesses ran to the burning big-rig and pulled the driver out of the cabin. The driver was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. A hazmat team was on the scene as the big-rig dealing with the big-rig's load.

The pickup truck driver refused medical attention.

The crash is under investigation.
