COLUMBIA, Ky. — A Kentucky firefighter died Friday as a result of a heart attack suffered while on duty.
Adair County Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter Charles "Sparky" Sparks, 49, was operating on the interior of a residential structure fire on June 30 when he suffered the heart attack.
Fellow firefighters treated Firefighter Sparks at the scene until local EMS arrived and transported him to a hospital.
