Spartan ERV Increases South American Footprint, Reports 20 Unit Order for Sao Paulo, Brazil
BRANDON, S.D. (September, 2014) – Spartan ERV (Emergency Response Vehicles), a business unit of Spartan Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPAR), announced today that it has been awarded by the Sao Paulo (Brazil) Fire Department an order for 20 units. This order further accentuates Spartan ERV’s growth in South America, as over 150 units have been delivered to the region since January 2011. Production for the order will begin immediately, with a scheduled completion date within the next year.
“Sao Paulo, Brazil is one of the largest cities in the world with nearly 21 million citizens in the metropolitan area,” said Bill Doebler, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Spartan ERV. “Spartan ERV is recognized for building some of the safest, most durable fire apparatus in the market as evidenced by Sao Paulo’s order. This contract is also another step in Spartan ERV’s continued global growth. We value their confidence in our apparatus to protect the people of Sao Paulo.”
All 20 units will be Spartan ERV custom pumpers built on Spartan Metro Star cab/chassis featuring the Spartan Chassis Advanced Protection System® (APS) and equipped with Euro V emission standard engines and Allison transmissions. Each unit will feature Hale 1,250 gallon-per-minute pumps with Compressed Air Foam Systems and 1,250 gallon water tanks.
This award validates the global business development strategy announced by Spartan ERV at the Fire Department Instructors Conference in April 2012. Early in 2013, Diego Salazar joined the organization to assist in accelerating the development of the sales pipeline in South America. In addition to Peru, Spartan ERV has since expanded into Brazil, Chile and Venezuela.
“Spartan ERV’s superior product performance and value equation have assisted in driving our international business,” said Diego Salazar, Spartan ERV Director of Latin America Sales. “Our dealers provide an additional degree of differentiation. We are proud to be the solution provider to a department which has a strong tradition of service, and look forward to providing them with products built to the highest quality standards in the industry.”
