Registration now open for 2023 U.S. Police & Fire Championships

The Olympics-style games welcome first responders from around the country to compete in 50 different sports at venues throughout San Diego

SAN DIEGO — Registration is now open for the 2023 U.S. Police & Fire Championships, an Olympics-style competition in which first responders from around the country compete in 50 different sports.

The event will be held June 10 to June 17 at venues throughout San Diego.

The annual games draw thousands of athletes from law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, custom and correctional officers, as well as full-time employees (active and retired) of any eligible agency or organization in the capacity of 9-1-1 dispatchers, detention-custodial officers, crime scene investigators, or lifeguards. The games will feature a variety of sports, including bench press, dodgeball, pickleball, baseball, bowling, golf, surfing, tennis, water polo, CrossFit and others.

“We are looking forward to our 56^th season of the games,” says Larry Collins, president of the nonprofit California Police Athletic Federation. “Each year, the California Police Athletic Federation works to unite first responders and public safety personnel through encouraging health, wellness, and camaraderie. The U.S. Police & Fire Championships is one of our favorite events and we are so excited to bring together first responders from across the nation for yet another championship in San Diego.”

The U.S. Police & Fire Championships is one of four events that the CPAF presents in addition to the bi-annual World Police & Fire Games, the First Responders Relay and the new North American Fall Classic.
