Ore. firefighter rescued after trapped in basement

The firefighter was unable to locate a stairwell; a rescue team was sent to locate and lead the firefighter to safety

PORTLAND, Ore. — A firefighter was briefly trapped in the smoky basement of a burning home in north Portland.

KPTV reports the firefighter was unable to locate a stairwell, so the commander deployed a rescue intervention team to locate and lead the firefighter to safety.

The fire started about 1 a.m. Thursday, and firefighters entered the home to search for possible victims.

The fire was quickly extinguished.
