Chesapeake, Va., -- Phoenix Group of Virginia Inc has become the Exclusive Distributor in the State of Virginia for the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security for the Last Chance Rescue Filter, manufactured by Essex PB&R.
Essex PB&R Corporation has developed a Filter (Canister), the Last Chance Rescue Filter, which is a one-time-use emergency escape device that a firefighter can use in the event of an out-of-air emergency. The Canister filters out the toxic gases that are found in fire. The canister has a 5 ½ year shelf-life from the date of manufacture and weighs less than 1lb. Filters are available for the following SCBA Units: MSA, Draeger, Scott and Sperian. The LCRF is tested to EN 403 requirement for Rescue Filters. A current “Live Burn” training exercise with the VA Beach FD found the filter to be successful. Chesapeake FD in Virginia has recently purchased over 200 MSA Last Chance Rescue Filters.
