BEAUMONT — Common sense suggests it's a bad idea to seek refuge in a Dumpster. But every so often, waste industry periodicals contain tragic stories of those who have, only to find themselves trapped in the back of a big truck with a compactor exerting over 1,000 pounds of pressure per square inch.
Somehow, Jay Davis lived to tell his own tale. Dumped into the back of a garbage truck Monday morning along with three loads of trash, the 37-year-old transient survived three rounds of compacting. Somehow he was still was able to scream.
Those screams and a chance stop by the truck's driver saved his life.
Full Story: Firefighters spent about 40 minutes getting Davis out of the truck
