Fire dept. searching for owner of tortoise found strolling on street

Heartland Fire and Rescue responders “came across a rather interesting patient slowly traveling down the sidewalks”


EL CAJON, Calif. — A fire department is trying to reunite a tortoise with its owners after coming across the animal on the street.

According to a Heartland Fire and Rescue Facebook post, paramedics “came across a rather interesting patient slowly traveling down the sidewalks of El Cajon.”

“Unable to outrun the paramedics, and possibly suffering from a little ‘shell shock,'” the post reads, “it was transported to our El Cajon Animal Shelter.”

The post added that the tortoise will be kept at the shelter until the owner “can come by and claim it.”
