Job Description

The Canton Board of Fire and Police Commissioners will be testing for Original Appointment to the Fire Department.

The Canton Fire Department consists of 15 sworn full-time firefighters serving our community of approximately 14,000 residents. All firefighters are certified by the Office of the State Fire Marshall.

Starting salary is $51,608. Benefit package includes comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. Firefighters are covered by the Illinois Fire and Police Pension Fund.

Job Requirements

  • Age: Between 21 and 35 years of age.
  • Education: Applicants must possess a high school degree or G.E.D. equivalent, and hold a valid driver’s license. Upon offer of employment, candidate must possess a valid CPAT certification and must pass a polygraph, psychological exam, and medical exam.
  • Experience: None required to test.
