City/County/Area Information: The City of Monroe lies 17 miles east of Everett on Highway 2 and 10 miles northeast of Bothell/Woodinville on Highway 522. With a diverse population of 18,806, the city has become the center of trade, business, and professional services for East Snohomish County. We are anticipating growth in the near future with the addition of the North Kelsey Project, which will include retail and residential development. Monroe is the home of the Evergreen State Fair, the largest county fair in the state. The fairgrounds are open year-round to provide a variety of events. The equestrian park at the fairgrounds is one of the finest facilities in the west with events scheduled all year. The city is located in a river valley and surrounded by forested open space. Our many parks and public places are beautifully maintained. Access to fishing, white-water rafting, and other water sports, hiking, skiing, climbing, and camping opportunities is only minutes away. The mountain wilderness area east of Monroe is a panorama of waterfalls, streams and mountain lakes.

Automatic Disqualifiers : Driving: A conviction of Driving While Intoxicated (D.U.I) within the last five years or two or more D.U.I. convictions ever. A diversion of similar action (First Degree Negligent Driving) will be considered to be the same as a D.U.I. conviction.
Two or more driver’s license revocations and/or suspensions for driving violations, point accumulation, or failure to appear to pay fine.
A traffic history that shows a continuing and/or recent pattern of poor decision-making.
Drug Use: Illegal drug substance usage or exposure within past year.
Legal or illegal use of marijuana/hashish within the past year.
Illegal use of opiates/narcotics (heroin, morphine, etc.) or abuse of prescribed opiates/narcotics.
Illegal use of amphetamines/methamphetamines .
Illegal use of cocaine over five times regardless of time frame, or a) any use of crack cocaine one time; b) any use of free based cocaine , or c) any illegal injection of cocaine.
Hallucinogen (mushrooms, LSD, PCP, etc.) no more than one time, and no uses within the past ten years.
Illegal sale of ANY drug, including marijuana.
Illegal use of non-prescribed oral or injectable steroids over five sequences/cycles within the last two years.
Illegal use of ANY controlled substance while employed in a criminal justice capacity.
Pattern of illegal use of prescription medication.
Criminal Activity: As an adult, any conviction of a felony offense, or conviction of a gross misdemeanor involving moral turpitude. (Juvenile offenses will be carefully reviewed).
Any misdemeanor, or felony conviction while employed in a criminal justice capacity. Conviction of domestic violence.
Unlawful sexual misconduct.
Employment: One or more terminations. (Leaving an employer in lieu of termination will be carefully reviewed).
Dishonorable discharge from the United States armed forces.
Work history showing a pattern of unexcused absences. (Discipline and/or discharges will be carefully reviewed).
Financial: Failure to pay income tax or child support.
Current credit accounts, or unresolved accounts in collection will be carefully reviewed.
Pattern of excessive gambling.
Other: Found to have lied during any stage of the hiring process.
Falsified any part of the application, personal history questionnaire, or any other forms during the hiring process.
Unprofessional or offensive tattoo or brand, regardless of its location (i.e., depictions of nudity or violence; sexually explicit or vulgar art, words, phrases, or profane language, symbols likely to incite a strong negative reaction in any group, initials or acronyms that represent criminal or historically oppressive organizations).
Previous revocation or denial of Criminal Justice Training Commission (CJTC) certified status or suspension of current CJTC certified status.
