Job Description
This position performs a variety of life and property protection work through the suppression and prevention of fires and in response to emergency aid calls on a shift. At the scene of a fire, work is performed under hazardous conditions involving smoke, heat, and cramped surroundings, generally requiring strenuous physical exertion. At the scene of a medical emergency or accident, firefighters attend to the public under stressful conditions involving trauma, suffering, and personal tragedies.
In addition to the other listed requirements, the successful candidate must demonstrate the following abilities: communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing; read, comprehend, and apply a variety of fire suppression, prevention, inspection, and emergency medical materials and information; develop skill in the use and care of a variety of mechanical operations; be able to reason and react quickly and calmly in emergency situations or situations involving personal danger; be able to learn and apply a variety of firefighting duties and methods, as well as skill in the use of firefighting equipment within a reasonable work test period; have physical strength and agility sufficient to perform the work required; maintain effective relations with fellow employees and with citizens from varied racial, ethnic, or economic backgrounds.

The City of Pullman Civil Service Commission is accepting test results for the positions of Entry-Level Firefighter/Paramedic on a continuous basis. Test results are kept on file and valid until their expiration date. Oral boards are scheduled when the current eligibility list is exhausted or expires, whichever comes first.

Written and CPAT testing required. All testing and applications must be completed by January 31, 2022 to be considered for the next round of oral boards. Get started at www.publicsafetytesting.com.
