Job Description

Already a paramedic and want to become a firefighter? Already a firefighter/paramedic and looking to relocate to the heart of the beautiful Pacific Northwest?

Come join our fast paced, hardworking team at Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue. CCFR Firefighters respond to a wide range of emergencies from Fire and EMS to Haz-Mat and Technical rescue. When not responding to incidents, firefighters are responsible for taking care of station duties, apparatus, training, public education, and physical fitness. CCFR operates out of 6 staffed stations with 5 engines, 1 ladder truck, 2 squads, and 1 Battalion Chief. A marine program offers a swift water rescue team and three different boat types for district response to a large section of the Columbia River and its many tributaries. CCFR is a member of the regional Technical Rescue Team. The department also assists federal emergency response with members for All-Risk Mobilization Team including wildland fires and natural disasters. Firefighters at Clark-Cowlitz have many different career paths and specialty programs to choose from. CCFR Firefighters work a 48/96-hour schedule. Competitive pay with a comprehensive benefit package is offered.

The area is located along the Columbia River valley just north of Portland, OR along the I-5 corridor. From sea to summit you really can do it all in this region. Many of members enjoy the outdoor lifestyle. The department serves a variety of different response areas from three cities, bedroom communities, industrial and commercial, rural, ports and the Cowlitz Indian Tribe's world class Ilani Resort and Casino. Clark-Cowlitz maintains an extremely high level of involvement with our communities and the citizens we serve. In addition to emergency response, CCFR also has a Fire Marshal and Fire Inspectors office, as well as a community paramedic program (CARES). The department has experienced exponential growth over the last few years and the opportunities are endless at this progressive department. Come apply today on publicsafetytesing.com!

The candidate list will remain in effect for the next 12 months as future openings are anticipated. Clark-Cowlitz Fire and Rescue anticipates hiring one to two separate groups spaced out over the course of up to a year, in order to accommodate for proper academy class size. CCFR will be hiring to balance the need of paramedics on every first out apparatus from a successful passing of an EMS levy, attrition, and possibly adding additional stations in the near future. Multiple positions are anticipated to be hired from this list.

You are invited on April 15th to attend a Career Day at Station 21 from 11am-2pm. Bring your family to meet our family. Fire Chief John Nohr will be giving introduction speeches at the start of every hour, on the hour. All department specialty programs will have booths and educational stations. Kids activities and fun for the whole family will be provided. We want your family to be just excited to start working here as you are. Please come and ask any and all questions.
