Under the direction of an Advanced Firefighter (AFF) and Fire Lieutenant, the Firefighter (FF) is responsible for fire prevention, suppression, fire inspections, hazardous materials release response, rescue operations and emergency medical care; assists in apparatus and equipment maintenance, and facility maintenance.
This firefighter position is a 12 month temporary position intended to train and certify personnel to promote to the Advanced Firefighter. Firefighters are eligible for promotion to Advanced Firefighters after six (6) months from hire if all requirements are met, license obtained, and taskbook is completed.

Salary will be commensurate with years of experience, licenses, and certifications. Starting salary of candidates meeting the minimum requirements is $33,734.00. Additional years of full time paid front line structural firefighting experience will receive additional compensation at 0.5% per year up to $37,107.40.

- Education: Minimum: High School --- Preferred: Associates Degree in Fire Related Subject
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year as a full time paid front line structural firefighter
*Employed full time within the past year with a recognized career fire department
*Minimum of one‐year employment as a full‐time front line structural firefighter with a recognized career fire department
*High school diploma, or equivalent
*Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
*Possess a Class F leaner’s permit or equivalent driver license and the ability to immediately obtain State of Georgia license within 45 days of employment
*Georgia Firefighter certification or eligible to obtain within 60 days of employment
*NPQ or IFSAC Hazardous Materials Awareness/Operations
*NPQ or IFSAC Firefighter 2
*NIMS-ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
*Current Emergency Medical First Responder certification or higher (will be required to obtain National Registry or Georgia Emergency Medical Technician - Basic within one (1) year of hire date)
*NPQ or IFSAC Apparatus Driver/Operator Pumper (Must acquire certification within 12 months of employment).
