Mold problem closes Texas fire station

Crews were moved to nearby stations until repairs are complete

By FireRescue1 Staff

FORT WORTH, Texas — A Fort Worth fire station is temporarily closed until a mold problem is repaired.

CBS DFW reported that crews from Fire Station 26 will work out of several different stations in the city until repairs on the building's HVAC system are complete.

"In evaluating the level of repair and work that had to be done, the decision was made to move the two crews that are there to nearby stations," Lt. Kyle Falkner said.

Lt. Falkner said residents shouldn't notice a difference in response time.

"In this area of town, the other stations are relatively close by so we don't expect to see a big increase in response times," he said.

Repairs at the station are expected to take about six weeks.
