The multiple structure fire left four firefighters with heat exhaustion

NEW YORK — Four firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion Tuesday night following a multiple structure blaze.
Officials said several buildings were damaged after an apartment caught fire in Manhattan’s historic SoHo district, which then spread to a penthouse above and nearby buildings.
“We had fire then on the top floor of three buildings. We were able to get lines to the fire building very quickly and knock down the initial fire, but it had already extended to the buildings on the left and right,” FDNY Manhattan Borough Cmdr. Roger Sakowich told CBS New York.
Fire officials told the Associated Press the fire was difficult to control due to the old age of the buildings and how they were built.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
