Police: Man was ‘high’ when he punched Fla. firefighter

PORT RICHEY, Fla. — A man who police said was under the influence of drugs was charged after he punched a firefighter sitting in a fire truck.

WTSP reported that a Pasco County Fire Rescue firefighter was in a truck, putting on his uniform and headset, when Joshua Lyles ran up to the window, punched the firefighter, then ran away.

Other firefighters apprehended Lyles and held him until police arrived.

Lyles was charged with burglary, simple battery/assault and assault on a firefighter.
