2 Texas county volunteers die after collapsing at structure fires

Titus County Firefighters Ross Estabrooks, 47, and Wesley Vanderver, 86, suffered cardiac arrests in a matter of weeks

TITUS COUNTY, Texas — Firefighter Ross Estabrooks, 47, died while responding to a call with the Tri-Lakes Volunteer Fire Department in Titus County, Texas, KLTV reported.

Estabrooks suffered a heart attack while responding to a fire at a 300-foot tiny house, according to Titus County Judge Brian Lee. He was transported to a hospital where he died.

This is the second recent loss for Titus County, as Sugar Hill VFD Firefighter Wesley Vanderver, 86, died Oct. 27 after collapsing while working the pump truck at a fire, East Texas Radio reported. Vanderver died at the hospital of a heart attack as well.
