MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. — The U.S. Fire Administration today announced the official line-of-duty death (LODD) of Driver/Engineer Michael Watkins, 75, a volunteer firefighter with the Northeast Lakeside Fire Department in Arkansas.

On April 21, 2019, Watkins was responding to a brush fire when he suffered a heart attack. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where he passed away on April 24, 2019.

The Northeast Lakeside Fire Department posted on its Facebook page that there will be a celebration of life for Watkins at the First United Methodist Church on May 4 at 11 a.m.
