CLAYTON, Del. — John Pridemore, Clayton Fire Company chief and Clayton town manager, died Tuesday following a fall at the station.
Pridemore was reportedly using a scissor lift to clean windows above an apparatus bay on Monday when someone opened a door and knocked over the lift, according to WDEL.com. Pridemore fell about 25 feet and hit his head. He was transported to Christiana Hospital, where he passed away the following day.
Pridemore joined the department in 1991 and worked his way up the ranks. He was president of the Kent County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association in 2013, according to the fire company. Pridemore served in the Delaware National Guard as a military police officer.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, granddaughter and other family members.
