SPOKANE, Wash. — A lieutenant-paramedic with Spokane Fire District 9 was killed while operating at the scene of a brush fire on Thursday.
Lt. Cody Traber was “fatally wounded” during operations at a brush fire, according to a statement from Spokane Fire District 9 Fire Chief Jack Cates. FirefighterCloseCalls.com reported that Traber was investigating the fire when he fell from a bridge at Interstate 395.
Traber was an 18-year veteran of the District and previously served at Stevens County Fire District #1, Cheney Fire Department and the Department of Natural Resources Arcadia District.
Traber leaves behind his wife, Allisyn, and four young children.
This is a developing story.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to LT Cody Traber’s family, friends and SCFD9 as they deal with the line of duty death of one of their own. Cody has served FD 9 for 18 years, and he leaves behind his wife Allisyn and 4 young children. #LODD pic.twitter.com/G6aESwANKR
