HONEY GROVE, Texas — A Texas firefighter has succumbed to injuries he received earlier in July from a crash while responding to an emergency call.
In a Facebook post, the Honey Grove Fire Department stated that Firefighter Evan Brown died at Medical City Plano ICU on July 30.
Brown and Firefighter Bryson Braley were responding to an accident just before 10:00 p.m. on July 9 when the crash occurred, KXII reported. A Facebook post from Brown's parents providing updates on his condition stated that he had been ejected from his pickup and suffered serious injuries
Braley sustained minor injuries. Brown underwent several surgeries for a "torn spleen, collapsed lung, facial fractures, skull fracture, broke sternum, and a brain bleed," according to his parents.
The fire department has created a GoFundMe to help the family with medical expenses.
