Memphis firefighters became trapped while fighting a house fire Tuesday evening

UPDATE (1:34 p.m. EDT):

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Fire Department has identified the fallen firefighter as Lieutenant Jeffrey Norman. Lieutenant Norman began his career with the department on Sept. 23, 2022.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis firefighter was killed and three others injured after being trapped inside a house fire on July 18. 

Firefighters responded to the house fire at approximately 11:30 p.m. During fireground operations, the incident commander was notified that firefighters were trapped, ABC24  reported. 

Other firefighters worked to rescue those trapped. One firefighter succumbed to his injuries. The surviving firefighters are hospitalized. 

In a Facebook post, the Memphis Fire Department stated their conditions were being monitored and regular updates would be provided.
