3 Wash. firefighters fall through floor, escape injury
Radio issues on scene prevented crews from spreading the word to other firefighters that there was a hole in the first floor
SPOKANE, Wash. — Three firefighters fell through the floor of a burning home Monday.
KREM reported that no firefighters were hurt, but radio issues played a part in their fall. Fire officials said firefighters arrived and discovered the hole in the first floor. However, radio issues prevented them from spreading the word to everyone and three firefighters later fell from the first floor into the basement.
One firefighter's fall was partially broken by a colleague below.
Crews at the scene believe squatters had been coming in and out of the house through broken windows.
It was determined the fire began in the basement.
