How NIST captures great fire video footage–
At the National Fire Research Laboratory at NIST, fire researchers and engineers have come up with creative and innovative ways of capturing great fire video footage.
NFFF introduces fire dynamics boot camp–
Live Facebook video from a fire dynamics boot camp with UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute at Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services. The course centers around science and research-based principles being shared with the fire service for considerations in firefighting.
UL: Fire attack full-scale experiments–
Throughout both February and March, the UL – FSRI team was in Northbrook, Ill. at the Underwriters Laboratories headquarters conducting the full-scale residential structure fire experiments. Over 30 experiments were conducted looking at both interior and transitional fire attack and associated risks to trapped occupants and responding firefighters in residential structure fires.
UL research experiment on air entrainment–
Testing was conducted at the Delaware County (Pa.) Emergency Services Training Center to measure the amount of air being entrained into the structure by fire attack operations.
NIST and UL research on organizational behavior: Part 7–
Derek Alkonis, BC from LACoFD, discusses organizational change.
NIST and UL research on live fire experiments: Part 6–
Daniel Madrzykowski, P.E. from NIST, discusses live fire experiments.
NIST and UL research on fire behavior training: Part 5–
Stephen Kerber, P.E. from UL, discusses fire behavior training.
NIST and UL research on fire dynamic case studies: Part 4–
Daniel Madrzykowski, P.E. from NIST, discusses case studies on fire dynamics.
NIST and UL research on fire dynamics: Part 3–
Daniel Madrzykowski, P.E. from NIST, discusses fire dynamics.
NIST and UL research on fire environment: Part 2–
Stephen Kerber, P.E. from UL on NIST and UL Fire Behavior Research, discusses the modern fire environment.
NIST and UL research fire behavior and fireground tactics–
The National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) have been working together with the fire service to examine fire dynamics and firefighting tactics. Derek Alkonis, Battalion Chief at Los Angeles County Fire Department, introduces NIST and UL's Fire Behavior Research.
