DES MOINES, Iowa — A firefighter resigned after being accused of driving a fire truck to a call while intoxicated.

WHOTV reported that volunteer firefighter Jeffery Feaster responded to a 911 call in a fire truck and was slurring his speech when he arrived, according to police.

Associated Press reported that Feaster’s blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit and he failed two field sobriety tests, according to police.

According to the Iowa Firefighter’s Association, there are no state laws forbidding firefighters from drinking before shifts, but they are encouraged to not respond if they are too intoxicated to perform their duties.
