Volunteer Firefighter Chelsea Lyn Garvin, 19, died Thursday from injuries received in a collision Saturday on Fish River while she was riding on a rescue vessel after a Christmas boat parade, department officials said.
Garvin, a 2005 Fairhope High graduate, was one of three South Baldwin Search and Rescue team members on the boat when it collided with another vessel at about 7:48 p.m., according to reports. She was flown to the University of South Alabama Medical Center by LifeFlight-Mobile.
She died at the Mobile hospital at 2:59 p.m. Thursday, said fellow Marlow/Fish River Firefighter Brady McLaughlin. McLaughlin said Garvin had been a volunteer with the department for about a year.
