MONTREAL — The union representing the city’s firefighters is calling on Mayor Gérald Tremblay to reverse a decision to demote a captain accused of decorating station 23 in the St. Henri district in support of the Montreal Canadiens’
playoff efforts.
Marcel Vincent, formerly a Montreal Fire Department captain, was demoted to lieutenant, a sanction that will cost him $20,000 a year in salary. As captain he was responsible for the fire station’s personnel and equipment.
He was also transferred to another station.
