Calgary man acquitted on 10 of 12 pimping counts; gets time served

CALGARY — A former Calgary firefighter has been acquitted of almost all of the dozen pimping related charges he faced, prompting questions about the future of the city’s escort bylaw.

Justice Pat Sullivan found Douglas Henry Eastaugh, 40, guilty of two counts of living off the avails of prostitution involving two women who worked for him, and of running a common bawdy house.

But Sullivan acquitted Eastaugh of most of the charges, ruling he was duped by the city into believing that what he was doing as the operator of an escort agency was legal.
