NEW YORK — FDNY Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta is threatening major monthly shakeups — transferring commanders whose companies have the slowest response times, sources said yesterday.
The bid to drive down rising response times will start next month as FDNY brass compare January’s times with averages from 2002 to 2004, sources said.
The move comes eight months after Scoppetta accused fire unions of telling fire truck drivers to deliberately slow down for emergencies as part of a scheme to reopen firehouses and increase staffing.
