WINCHESTER, Va.- Arson may have been the cause of a fire that heavily damaged an apartment building in Winchester.
Deputy Fire and Rescue Chief Frank Wright says the blaze has been ruled suspicious and tests are being done to confirm whether the fire was deliberately set.
Wright says the fire started in the basement mechanical room early yesterday and spread to all three floors of the building through a pipe. Thirteen of the 15 apartments in the building were occupied but everyone got out safely.
Fire officials don’t have a damage estimate.
