PATERSON, N.J. — A Paterson firefighter was taken to the hospital after a ceiling fell on him during a house fire Saturday.

Anthony Camal, a 10-year veteran, was trying to pull down parts of the ceiling with other firefighters when it fell.

“The ceiling just came down in one piece,” acting Deputy Chief Thomas Hirz told The Record of Bergen County for Sunday’s newspapers. “It knocked him down, knocked off his mask, and debris went into his eyes . . . He had a real irritation in his eye.”

No one else was injured in the blaze, which destroyed the house.
