COLUMBUS, Neb. — There won’t be a Platte County District Court trial in the city’s effort to require paid members of the Columbus Fire Department to attend hazardous materials training on their days off.

Attorneys representing the city and firefighter David Hogelin and Columbus Professional Firefighters Local 1572 plan to submit a document stipulating to the facts and witness testimony in the case to District Judge Robert Steinke, eliminating the need for a trial.

A pretrial conference in the case scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday in Steinke’s chambers has been canceled.
