Two men who died following a huge blast at a fireworks depot have been named as a “thorough” investigation gets under way into the cause of their deaths.
Retained firefighter Geoff Wicker and support officer Brian Wembridge died on Sunday after going to the scene of the blaze at Festival Fireworks in Shortgate, near Lewes, East Sussex.
Des Prichard, chief fire officer of East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, said it was still “too early” to know what caused the tragedy. But he said colleagues of the two men had been “traumatised” by the events.
